Rodney Diverlus

Rodney Diverlus is a Haiti-born, Florida-trained, and Toronto/Calgary-based dancer, choreographer, actor, director, & producer. Rodney has performed throughout Canada, the US, and the Caribbean in dance, theatre, and musical theatre. Currently, Rodney is a company member for Calgary’s Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Canada’s only professional jazz dance company, performing and touring full-length productions and mixed repertoire. There he has developed a movement aesthetic rooted in jazz techniques and contemporary approaches to movement. Professionally, he has worked with Kimberley Cooper, Hannah Kiel, Kevin Ormsby, Gadfly, Deanne Walsh, Sarisa D. Toledo, Marie-Josée Chartier, Mindy Cooper, Patricia Wilcox, Other performance credits include: 2015 Pan American Games Closing Ceremonies, Nightmare Dream(IFT/Obsidian Theatre);  a piece of twisted steel(KasheDance/Wind in the Leaves Collective); Lifetime Achievement Awards(Dance Ontario); Miracle Gala(David Foster Foundation);  Ryerson Dances; Maelstrom Excerpts(MOonhORsE Dance Theatre); Hairspray (Hammertime Entertainment); Cirque (Legend Productions); & The Canadian Premiere of High School Musical 2 (Silvermist Productions).  As a choreographer, Rodney’s work has been featured in various festivals and showcases, including the Footsteps Across Canada Showcase, Annual Alberta Dance Festival, New Voices Festival, 60x60 Festival, Cadence Ballet Company, Fashion Arts Toronto, The Miss Pakistan World Pageant, Fresh Blood Festival, Toronto & Hamilton Fringe Festivals, Culture Jam Show, and various residencies. He has also choreographed and independently produced two full-length dance works. Selected TV/Film credits include: Jericho-Baghdad (Greyzone Ltd); Combat Hospital (ABC series); Dual Suspects (Cineflix Productions); MTV Music Award Promo (Spy Films). Rodney holds a BFA in Performance Dance from Ryerson.
