Originally from Winnipeg, MB, Samantha’s passion for dance led her to Toronto, where she became a graduate of the Ryerson University Performance Dance Program (BFA, 2013). Specializing in Contemporary, Modern, and Floor Work techniques, Samantha continues to develop her artistry through workshops in Toronto, Montreal, and New York, as well as travelling to Vienna, Austria in 2014 for the Impulstanz International Dance Festival where she trained with dance leaders from across the globe.
Samantha has represented Team Canada in three World Dance Championships, competing in the styles of Ballet, Jazz, and Showdance. In 2009 Samantha won Canada the gold medal with her Pointe solo, earning her the title of “World Adult Ballet Champion”.
Since June 2012, Samantha has been a dancer and collaborator for Toronto based absurdist dance theatre company, Rock Bottom Movement, under the Artistic Direction of Alyssa Martin. Samantha has toured with the company to Montreal (Wildside Festival, 2020) and across Southern Ontario, as well as internationally to Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Women In Dance Conference, 2015), and to Brooklyn, NY (CPR Spring Festival, 2016). She’s also had the honour of completing numerous notable and highly sought after residencies with the company including at The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (2018), The National Ballet of Canada (2019), Canadian Stage (RBC Artist in Residence, 2019), Toronto Dance Theatre (2019), and most recently at the Stratford Festival (The Lab, 2020).
As a freelance artist, Samantha has had the privilege of working with companies including Dance Theatre David Earle, Young Human Body Expression, Shannon Litzenberger Contemporary Dance, The Garage Dance Collective, and Hit and Run Dance Productions. Other credits include: 60x60 Dance Toronto, The Royal Conservatory of Music, Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, ScotiaBank Nuit Blanche, Hockey Hall of Fame, The Chimera Project: Fresh Blood, Anamatis Productions, Laid Bare Curations, Shy Kids Productions, Gearwerx, Claritin, and Virgin Mobile.
Samantha is also a passionate teacher and choreographer. Her teaching highlights include RBMs Spring Workshop series, and the Ryerson Theatre School as a guest teacher in the Modern Dance department. She has also had the privilege of teaching workshops and master classes for studios, conventions, and companies across Canada. In 2016, Samantha was featured as a guest teacher in Hyra, Greece for the VIEW Dance Challenge Greece Intensive, teaching Floor Work techniques to select elite dancers from across the country.
