Title Soloist Competition

MINI VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 4-8) (Petite, Mini)
JUNIOR VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 9-10)
INTERMEDIATE VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR (Ages 11-12)
PRE-TEEN VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 13-14)
TEEN VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 15-16)
SENIOR VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 17& Up) (Senior, Advanced)
PRE-COMPETITIVE DIVISONS:
JUNIOR VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 4-10) (Petite, Mini, Junior)
INTERMEDIATE VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 11-14) (Intermediate, Pre-Teen)
SENIOR VIEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR: (Ages 15& Up) (Teen, Senior, Advanced)
NOTE: There must be 5 or more in each category to Award 5th to 1st.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. You must have received a top solo award (Top 5 Soloist in Age Division) at one of our Regional Events. Additionally, if you received a inSIGHT Intensive Invitation at one of our Conventions or Regional Competitions you are also qualified to compete in our Title Competition.
2. Contestants must attend all convention classes. (Convention fees are included in Title Soloist Entry Cost)
3. You cannot win Artist of the Year two consecutive years.
4. All Runner Up Title Winners automatically qualify to re-compete in the Title Competition for the proceeding year.
5. We do not allow deferrals for dancers who cannot make that nationals year. Dancers must requalify each year regardless of the location of nationals.
BREAK DOWN:
Contestants must be prepared for an Interview. Please dress in semi formal attire for the interview. Interviews will be held in Entry Code Order.
Contestants must submit a headshot upon registration in DanceComp Genie by June 1st in a clear, high-resolution image file format.
Competitive Artist of the Year Contestants must participate in an on camera meet & greet.
Competitive Artist of the Year Contestants must be part of the VIEW Title professional photo shoot. *Please ensure title dancers wear all black for their photo shoot/on camera meet & greet with no logos. (VIEW logos permitted).
All title Contestants must take part in mandatory rehearsals & performance for the Red Carpet Gala Opening Number.
Contestants can compete a different solo in the regular Nationals competition from what they enter into the Title Competition. Title solos cannot be entered into the regular Nationals competition.
Contestants do not need to enter the solo they received the top award for at our regionals event, however it must be from the same dance season.
Contestants will be adjudicated on their Title Solo Performance, Interview Process, Convention Classes and overall attitude towards their dance experience!
The VIEW Artist of the Year title is determined using the following scoring criteria:
- 50% – Solo Performance
- 40% – Convention Classes (8% per class × 5 classes)
- 8% – Interview
- 2% – Opening Number Attendance & Rehearsal Process
Please Note:
- If an Opening Number rehearsal overlaps with your scheduled competition call time, no marks will be deducted for your absence.
- Pre-Competitive Title Contestants will have their two lowest Convention Class scores dropped. The average of their top three Convention Class scores will be used as their final Convention Class score.
*Title Solos are not eligible for the FINAL Hour Showdown.
*Title Solos entered into the title competition are not eligible for Top 5 Competitive Plaques or Overall Awards

· Invitation to assist VIEW Dance Convention (Pre-Teen, Teen & Senior Winners)
· Full VIEW Convention Scholarship (Mini, Junior & Intermediate Winners)
· Trophy, Sash, Plaque, Jacket
· Cash Award
– MINI & JUNIOR ARTIST OF THE YEAR: ($250.00)
– INTERMEDIATE & PRE-TEEN ARTIST OF THE YEAR: ($500.00)
– TEEN & SENIOR ARTIST OF THE YEAR: ($1000.00)
· Photo from professional photoshoot (sent to the studio post event)
· Invitation to perform live at the next Nationals Red Carpet Gala
One Pre-Competitive Winner from each age division will receive:
· VIEW Artist of the Year
· Full VIEW Convention Scholarship
· Trophy, Sash, Plaque, Jacket
· Cash Award
